Well what a year to start a travel business… It really does not feel like long ago that I was writing my previous blog post filled with optimism about the hope of Covid blowing over and being able to have a Summer filled with road trips on The Bonnie Camper. Unfortunately, here we are in November in a world I do not think anyone would have predicted. Nevertheless, patience is a virtue and school bus optimism is still high. With a vaccine around the corner we are praying to the Scottish gods that 2021 will all be worth it.
On reflection, with everything going on, or lack of anything going on, I would actually consider 2020 to be somewhat of a success for The Bonnie Camper. Being able to turn a vision into a reality within the year has been a huge achievement. Lockdown gave us the extra time to finish building the interior and make everything perfect. On top of that we were lucky enough to take The Bonnie Camper out on its first ever big road trip around the Scottish Highlands in August. Now I am obviously biased and knew it would be an epic week but even my high expectations were smashed with how much fun it turned out to be. It may have had something to do with the rare hot and sunny weather we experienced but I’ll leave that up to the critics.
Furthermore, during the trip we worked with our good friend Lewis Holms who managed to put together an insane video that we launched at the start of the month. The feedback we received off the back of the video was incredible so a big thank you to Lewis for the time and effort he contributed. For those who are yet to see it you will be able to find it on the homepage of our website or below in this blog.
Looking forward to next summer we can only focus on what we can control. So as soon as it is safe to do so our big yellow hostel on wheels will be ready and waiting for any group that dares to take on the Scottish Highlands.
Lastly, I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone for their support. It has been amazing to see the overwhelmingly positive response we have received so far and the amount of people that have reached out to me with kind words has been unexpected, it really means a lot.
Hopefully see you all on board in 2021,
